All About Ruby Rings


RUBY - the color red of the gem is in itself a color one associates with fiery, passionate and the vibrant. The most striking of all gems, rubies are related to the royalty and nothing less. With a worldwide popularity this gem is known as the pigeon's blood red gem and has the property of exhibiting different colors at different angles. Sometimes one can catch hues of purple and sometimes brown when the gem is viewed from different angles. A hard gem it matches the hardness of the sapphire in nature.

The name ruby is derived from the Latin word 'Ruber' which literally means red. Many jewelers consider the ruby as the gem of gems or the king of gems. For a time the ruby was considered even more valuable than the diamond. Many great personalities in history have known to have adopted the ruby as their favorite gem, often adorning their breastplates or used as a symbol or even wearing ruby rings for luck, royalty or power.

Rubies have also been considered as a stone representing love, passion, power, energy and even rebirth and life forces.
